He earned a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Notre Dame (1996–2000) and began his career as an Engineer at Intel Corporation (2000–2004), where he worked in Consumer, Product Marketing, and Market Strategy. At age 29, he made the life-changing decision to join the United States Marine Corps, serving as an Infantry Officer from January 2007 to March 2011. His military service, including deployment to Iraq, shaped his character — making him, in his own words, a more courageous and humble person who learned to appreciate the simple things in life. After returning from military service, A.J. founded HOVER in 2011, recognizing that contractors spent enormous time measuring properties and that smartphone-based 3D modeling could solve this problem at scale.
