Why James Freeman
Is The Expert

James Freeman is the nation's #1 ranked home improvement CEO according to Power100's proprietary 5-layer evaluation system — a ranking drawn from a database of over 7,600 qualified company leaders across the United States. That distinction isn't ceremonial. It reflects over two decades of measured performance in one of the most competitive, execution-driven industries in America. Since taking the helm as CEO of PJ Fitzpatrick in 2020, James has overseen one of the Delaware Valley's most respected exterior remodeling and home services companies — a business with roots going back to 1980. Under his leadership, PJ Fitzpatrick has grown its footprint, expanded service lines, and maintained the kind of customer satisfaction scores that define best-in-class operations. His background in mass communication from York College of Pennsylvania gives him an edge most operators lack: the ability to build trust at scale, align teams around a vision, and communicate in a way that drives results at every level of the organization. James's expertise spans the full revenue cycle of a high-performing home improvement company — from lead generation and sales methodology to installation quality standards, customer follow-through, and post-project relationship management. He has built and led teams through growth phases, market expansions, and the kind of operational inflection points that separate companies that scale from those that stagnate. His contributions to Power100 reflect the perspective of someone who has earned every insight through hands-on leadership — not theory, not consulting, but the daily reality of running one of the nation's best home improvement organizations.

PJ Fitzpatrick
Established in 1980 by Pete Fitzpatrick to install roofing, siding, windows and doors on residential homes, our first location was 113 Stanton Rd., in New Castle County. Taking care of our customers was our primary focus and the reason for our success then and now. Our many repeat and referral customers helped us grow the business through the years. In 1995 we moved to a larger operations building at 107 J&M Drive, Churchman’s Crossing just off I-95. This not only gave us more room to grow and better accessibility to our customers, it also had a showroom so our customers could stop by and see a large variety of products in actually sizes and colors. By 2003 we had out-grown the Churchman’s Crossing location thanks to our loyal repeat and referral customer base and our continued focus on customer service. At the same time we made the large acquisition of Kelly’s Windows and Doors. This catapulted us to become the largest remodeler in the Delaware Valley. Along the way we also added a Repair Division and started completing bath remodels. Our operations is now located at 21 Industrial Blvd., New Castle. Our focus is still the same as it was in 1980; taking care of our customers. That we never change.
